The Pundit Panel (Week 7): Legion v. FC Tulsa

Battle of the Titans

A draw looked very much in the bag for three of our pundits last week until Atlanta’s Tyler Wolff had a complete brain freeze and barreled into Jaden Servania in the box 3 minutes into second half stoppage time. That gave Kaylor the win he had predicted.

This week will be an even harder challenge. FC Tulsa are still reeling from the 5-0 trouncing Atlanta United 2 gave them and also had to travel to Kansas City on Wednesday before visiting our home town on Sunday. How up to the contest will they be?

Comments A contest between a team that has trouble scoring and another that has trouble stopping goals. This could be the coming-out party for one of them. Given that Tulsa is short its main man Joaquin Rivas as well as Jorge Corrales, and must be thoroughly shell-shocked, it’s going to be the Legion.

I’d love to predict a blowout, but surely Tulsa is not going to allow 4 or 5 goals for a third consecutive game. Nevertheless, the Three Sparks must be smelling blood.

FC Tulsa is leaky right now, and the Legion strikers are hungry. If ever there was a time for a thumping, it’s now. Maybe we see another formation change to get more momentum going forward. Either way, I see a huge win, and a leap up in confidence for Birmingham Legion.

FC Tulsa has shown a lot of regression since their blazing hot start, most of it being that their offense was extremely predictable and easy to breakdown after finding their weakness. While they did attempt to change this with a new formation against SKC II, a 4-1 loss shows that they are simply a team out of form. Even then, Legion have yet to score more than 1 goal in a match so I worry about predicting a blow out, so I’m going with a 2-1 win for the real Black and Gold.

Tulsa’s hot start has tapered off quick and Legion have started to get a little more and are probably deserving of more than the 1-0 win they achieved against Twonited last time out. I am expecting Legion to turn the screw on a Tulsa side suffering a bit of a free-fall.
