The Legion’s Other Two Teams Kick Off 2025

We haven’t done much—well, anything, to be frank—to discuss Legion 2 and Legion WFC this season so it’s high time we did so as the USL League Two and W League seasons have started.

Legion WFC in fact had its first game yesterday evening and they came from behind twice to beat Chattanooga Red Wolves 3-2 on goals by Taylor Leib, Avery Berryman and Elise Marquardt. You can read a detailed report on the game by our good friend Timothy Belin over at our associate site Southeast Soccer Report. One point of note on Legion WFC: Sydney and Addison Soehn, daughters of former head coach Tommy Soehn, are both on the squad and both played extensive minutes last night.

W League games can be streamed on SportsEnginePlay. The Legion WFC page is here. Last night’s game is not available as a replay so it’s not clear if it was streamed or not. The team plays again next Wednesday at One Knoxville; kick-off is at 5:00pm. The next home game is May 30th against Greenville Liberty (7:00pm at Dunnavant Valley). All remaining games are scheduled for streaming.

With the win Legion WFC leads the South Central Division (they were 6th of 7 in 2024). One Knox has already lost 2 games so the upcoming game should be a good opportunity to maintain that lead. However, Tennessee SC and Southern Soccer Academy, two very strong clubs, have yet to play at all.

Legion 2 will be looking to improve on its last-place finish in 2024 and starts its season tomorrow with a road game at the aforementioned Southern Soccer Academy (in Austell, GA) at 6:00pm. Games are streamed on the same platform as the W League; the Legion 2 page is here. Their first home game is next Wednesday (7:00pm, Dunnavant Valley) against Columbus United. As with WFC Legion 2 is a generational team; included on the roster is Jay Heaps’ son John.

Legion 2 will also be the only Three Sparks team to face in-state opposition in league play. Montgomery United and Dothan United are both in the South Central Division. In an unusual scheduling arrangement, they have already played each other, Montgomery winning 1-0 and play again tomorrow at 7:30pm. Dothan, by the way, has a really cool crest. Montgomery is a new team this year; Dothan finished 3rd in the division last season.
