The Pundit Panel (Week 26, Game 1): Legion v. Austin Bold

Seals and Croft can stay home this time

Everyone correctly predicted the win last week, but the Eleven ruined the donut expectations of the entire panel. Even so, John and Simon get full points for the correct margin of victory. In the first of two games this week, the Three Sparks take on the soon-to-be Fort Worth Bold (or so it seems at least). A home playoff game is on the line for the hosts; will they get it?

Prediction Win 2-0 Win 2-0 Win 2-0
The Austin Bold ranks 2nd worst in scoring. On the other hand, they are 5th best in allowing goals and 4th in clean sheets. They are also currently in a playoff position, but just barely. Their last few results are very erratic though.

In contrast, the Legion is now top of the power rankings, holds the longest win streak, just had a big statement win and is on the verge of gaining its first ever home playoff match. Oh, the Legion is also 4th best in goals allowed.

The Three Sparks definitely have momentum, and at the perfect time in the season. I don’t see them losing it. Fireworks on and off the field tonight.

One of the teams who have struggled to put the ball in the back of the net the most in the USL is the Bold, and going away from home to face one of the best defensive sides in the league in the Birmingham Legion. This still comes in a stretch where the Legion are in a must win, especially because this is our chance to clinch a playoff match at home and stay in the division race here in the Central.

I am in fear of losing purely because I’m prepared for disappointment, but I feel that the Legion are easily the favorite to win here. 2-0 to the Three Sparks.

2-0 Legion to clinch a historic home playoff game in style under the lights and with plenty of cheap hotdogs and beers in our bellies!
Season to Date 16/56 20/56 18/56
