The Pundit Panel (Week 26, Game 2): Legion @ OKC Energy

Sweeping down the plain one last time

NOTE: For some reason this did not publish as scheduled. Our apologies.

For the first time all season, the entire panel was in agreement on the score. That wasn’t quite right, but the margin of victory was, so everyone gets full points. With home field locked up, the Legion is now in a sprint to the finish with Louisville City. Will they retain the lead?

Prediction Win 3-0 Win 2-1 Win 2-0
OKC Energy are fighting for their playoff lives, but they’re close to a TKO. They have won just 1 of their last 5 (against Indy Eleven). Their last game was a 1-1 draw with…Austin Bold. Hmm. Thanks for softening them up.

A loss won’t eliminate them, quite. But they face a Legion team that has momentum, confidence, figired out how to score in bunches and has everything to play for.

And they will also have the energy. Legion to extend its club-high win streak.

OKC’s growth as a team cannot be understated. At the beginning of the season, The Energy were easily the worst non-MLS 2 team I’ve ever seen in the USL. After a coaching change, the Green and White have become a borderline playoff team.

With Legion’s win on Wednesday, the 3 Sparks have a little bit more room for a slip up, but I don’t see that happening this week. The offense is back and firing on all cylinders despite the loss of Junior. With JJ, Bruno, and Daigo back in good health and the emergence of Eli Crognale, our depth is finally fully realized.

The Legion should be on to win today, it feels like a comfortable 2-1 win.

I’m not sure how long this winning run can go for but hoping it will continue into the playoffs, and that we’ll carry the momentum with us! 2-0 Legion.
