Legion signs Marlon Santos from FC TulsaNot a like-for-like replacement for Neco Brett, but he's good.
After much to do on Twitter all day (and hopefully with more to come yet this week if tweets from the team’s infamous web admin are to be believed), the team stealth announced the signing of forward Marlon Santos from FC Tulsa.
Known, in the style of many Brazilian players, simply as Marlon or also Marlon Santos, Marlon dos Santos Prazeres is a 26-year-old from Rio. He spent five years playing with various in the lower levels of the Brazilian league system before joining the Tulsa Roughnecks in August 2019. With Tulsa he played a total of 56 games, starting 47 and averaging 70 minutes a game. He scored a total of 17 goals in those games and made 9 assists.
Tulsa largely used him as a winger – at just 5’8″ he is a bit small for a target forward (unless he has a prodigious vertical leap), especially in this league. However, looking at a few of his goals, they are mostly opportunistic in-the-box scores, something that the Legion has been sorely lacking.
It’s going to be fun watching him work with fellow Brazilian Bruno Lapa, as well as with the much taller Macky Diop.
Welcome to the Ham , Marlon!
