Full ESPN schedule released

The Legion gets two slots

The USL today released the full schedule for games to be aired on ESPN networks rather than just on ESPN+, the streaming platform.

In addition to the season opener at Protective Stadium against the Tampa Bay Rowdies, the Legion will also appear on Friday April 15th when they visit Championship newcomers Detroit City. So after playing at the USL’s newest stadium, the Three Sparks will play on the second oldest (by a year) – Keyworth Stadium, opened in 1936. That game will be on ESPN Deportes, however, which is not carried by all service providers. Notably, YouTubeTV and Hulu Live  – which is owned by Disney as is ESPN – do not have it. That should not affect your ability to watch the game on ESPN+ though. The game also appears to have been rescheduled. It was originally slated for the following day, which happens to be the same day the Birmingham Stallions play the New Jersey Generals in the new incarnation of the USFL, which will also be aired nationally (on Fox and NBC).

Only a few teams get more exposure than the Legion. El Paso Locomotive tops the list with 4 appearances, and Louisville City, Orange County and the Rowdies all get three. None of those are surprising in the least. Memphis 901 gets just one appearance, by the way.

Additionally, the Championship final will be on ESPN on a channel to be determined, and the League One final will be on ESPN2 for the first time ever.
