The Pundit Panel (Week 4): Legion @ San Antonio FC

If You’re Gonna Play in Texas...

Darren Abate

Our experts finally all scored some points, in a game that wasn’t too hard to predict. None of them got the score exactly right, but Kaylor Hodges got the margin of victory correct, so he jumps out into a massive 1-point lead. This week sees the Legion on a long road trip to Texas and a tough opponent. The panel is completely split on this one, and someone is guaranteed to be right. Here’s how the foursome think it will turn out:

Comments Both teams are dealing with injury bugs, and San Antonio looked uninspired against the surprisingly strong Rio Grande Valley Toros last week. San Antonio needs the win, but so does the Legion and they have the energy on their side. This one will end in a stalemate. San Antonio FC are a top notch team, trending in the wrong direction (W-D-L). Birmingham Legion are looking to solidify their top tier status, and are trending in the right direction thus far (L-D-W). San Antonio has forward firepower, but their back line has leaked four goals already, while Birmingham has only allowed 2. It’s time for the Legion’s offense to click into place and get a big win in Texas. While looking flat against Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio is still a top team in the west. While our offense looks more cohesive than they did at the beginning of the season, the massive backline of SAFC is a force that Legion hasn’t had to deal with since Tampa Bay. I don’t know tons about San Antonio’s team this year, but I’m banking on the Three Sparks riding the optimism of the Memphis game into another win.
