The Pundit Panel (Week 27): Legion v. Sporting Kansas City II

Sweeping down the plain one last time

No one on the panel anticipated a scoreless draw in Oklahoma City last week, so no points earned by anyone. This week sees the Legion start its final homestand of the regular season with the division title on the line, possibly to be clinched this Sunday if Louisville City do not beat Memphis 901 on Saturday. Here are this week’s predictions:

Prediction Win 2-1 Win 3-2  Win 2-0
Last week OKC Energy played scared and effectively lost it all. SKC II entered the season more or less expecting nothing and therefore have had nothing to lose. That’s even more true since they were eliminated. As poor as their season has been, they do not play scared.

As weak as their scoring has been, and as leaky as their defense has been, they will continue to attack regardless. They almost shocked Lou City two weeks ago by doing that. They are not to be discounted.

That being said, the Legion will want all 3 points from this one. It will be tight, but they’ll do it.

SKC II has this way of playing that seems to give the 3 Sparks real fits. Why? I think it’s because of their willingness to just run at the other team without fearing the consequences of losing the ball. With the team one team having nothing to gain and the other with a lot to lose, I imagine we’ll see a slightly nervy affair between the two.
As for the outcome, I’m not sure. Something to me is screaming a 3-2 classic but I could also see this being a 4-0 masterclass by the Legion. In the end? I see a goal or two sneaking in for the boys in Blue but the Black and Gold prevail.
3-2 Legion

Season to Date 18/61 22/60 20/60
