Game Report: Birmingham City 2-1 Swansea

bbc.com

bbcThe Blues finally ended their scoreless streak at 6 games as they took the 2-1 win over the Swans.

Still, it took until the second half before Troy Deeney, given the captain’s armband, opened the scoring in the 47th minute.

That was cancelled out 30 minutes later by Michael Obafemi, but Riley McGree added a second Birmingham goal after another 5 minutes, assisted by Deeney, to ice it for the home team.

The stats are weird: the Blues had a miserable 28% of the possession but managed 15 shots with it (and 6 on target) to Swansea’s 7, with only the goal on target.

The win leaves Birmingham in 19th place though, but only 5 points out of the promotion playoff positions. It’s still early days in the season, of course.
